Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S teaser confirms face unlock, AI-based scene recognition
Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S is scheduled to launch on March 27 in China and is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 845 platform
The launch of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship smartphone, the Mi Mix 2S is just a few days away and as expected the company is going full steam ahead with its teasers. Two of the latest teasers posted on Weibo point towards the inclusion of Face Unlock and AI-based scene recognition feature. A few weeks back, a report by XDA Developers had hinted that the Mi Mix 2S may feature a dual-rear camera setup with AI-centric features. An official watermark found in the firmware stated "Shot on Mi Mix 2S AI Dual Camera." The same report also suggested that the phone might come with Qi Wireless Charging and support for ARCore.
Both the teasers make use of popular artists like Van Gogh to show off the features. The first teaser shows how Face Unlock would work on the phone, while the second uses various paintings to show how the camera would be able to recognise different scenes.
Xiaomi has more-or-less already confirmed that the phone will be powered by Qualcomm’s new flagship SoC, the Snapdragon 845. The company has also teased the AnTuTu score of the Mi Mix 2S which stands at 273741.
Previous leaks have suggested that Xiaomi may employ a dual-rear camera setup with vertically stacked sensors. However, it’s the location of the front camera that is the bone of contention. Initially leaked renders had suggested that the front camera would be housed on the top-right corner of the display, inside a small notch. However, teasers of the phone suggest that the phone may not have a notch at all. Instead, the front camera might be located in the bottom chin, just like its predecessors. Xiaomi is scheduled to launch the Mi Mix 2S on March 27 in China.
