The upcoming Xiaomi Mi 5 may also have Windows 10-powered counterpart, that will possibly house the same specifications as its Android-powered counterpart

Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship phone, the Mi 5, may come with a separate variant that runs Windows 10 for Mobile, according to Chinese website, Anzhuo. The report also suggests that the device will have the same specifications as its Android-powered counterpart. Xiaomi’s India head confirmed that the device will be launched on February 24, and will be showcased during the World Mobile Congress event in Barcelona.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is confirmed to come with Qualcomm’s new flagship processor, the Snapdragon 820. However, the rest of the specifications have not yet been revealed by the company. It is expected to come with a 5.2-inch QHD display, along with 4GB of RAM. It is tipped to be available in two storage variants, one with 16GB and another with 64GB of onboard storage. The Mi 5 may come with a 16MP camera at the back with optical image stabilisation and laser-assisted autofocus, while at the front may be an 8MP camera. It may also come with a fingerprint scanner located on the device’s home button.

Last year, Microsoft had announced a partnership with Xiaomi. As per the partnership, a select group of Mi 4 power users would be invited to test Windows 10 for Mobile. These users would get a chance to download the Windows 10 Technical Preview. In December, Xiaomi made the Windows 10 ROM for Xiaomi Mi 4 available for download from the MiUI forum. However, the ROM is only available for the LTE-enabled version of the phone, which is not available in India.

If Xiaomi does release a Windows 10-powered variant of the Mi 5, they it may be one of the most powerful Windows 10 phones in the world, owing to the Snapdragon 820 inside. However, it may soon be joined by another device called the HP Falcon. The device was spotted on GFXBench, and the listing showed it to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset, housing a 5.8-inch display with a resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. The device may come with a 20MP camera at the back, and a 12MP front facing camera.
