Xiaomi launches Redmi Note Prime in India for Rs. 8,499

Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note Prime in India for Rs. 8,499. The phone will be available on Amazon and Mi.com from 10:00 am tomorrow. The Note Prime comes with a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, and is powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It is also equipped with a 3100mAh battery and 16GB of onboard storage, which is expandable by upto 32GB. There is a 13MP camera located at the back of the phone and a 5MP front camera. In addition, the Redmi Note Prime supports 4G dual SIM connectivity.

The Redmi Note Prime is Xiaomi’s second phone to be ‘Made in India’, after the Redmi 2 Prime. The company has partnered with Foxconn to manufacture phones at the latter’s facility located in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. Xiaomi’s India Head, Manu Jain, said, “We are really happy to be able to deliver to our promise of continuously innovating and catering to the needs of our Mi Fans. With the launch of Redmi Note Prime, we are glad to provide our Mi Fans an opportunity to upgrade to an even more powerful smartphone with an expanded memory and dual-SIM capabilities. Xiaomi has been teasing the launch and details of the Redmi Note Prime for a while with the hashtag, ‘PrimeIsComing’. It was speculated that the company may launch the Redmi Note 2 Prime in India, but the company shot down those speculations after it was asked for more details on social media.
