Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, Pad 8 Series announced at MWC 2026: Specs, India launch details
Xiaomi has announced its new Xiaomi 17 Series, alongside the Xiaomi Pad 8 Series and a range of AIoT products, at an event in Barcelona in the lead up to the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2026, which begins from March 2. The Xiaomi 17 Series includes the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra and a new Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. Xiaomi says its long-running collaboration with Leica has now shifted from a joint R&D framework to what it calls a strategic Co-creation model, hinting at a deeper integration of hardware and imaging development.

The Xiaomi 17 Series adopts a minimalist design with flat frames, slim bezels and a prominent circular camera module. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra measures 8.29mm in thickness and weighs 218.4g (Black and White variants) or 219g (Starlit Green). The front is protected by the Xiaomi Shield Glass 3.0 with a fibreglass back, an aluminium alloy frame and IP68 certification for dust and water resistance. Xiaomi claims the new Shield Glass offers 30% better drop resistance compared to the Xiaomi 15 Ultra.
The standard Xiaomi 17 is thinner and lighter at 8.06mm and 191g. It is available in Black, Venture Green, Alpine Pink and Ice Blue. It also carries IP68 certification and uses an aluminium frame with Xiaomi Shield Glass protection.
All Xiaomi 17 Series phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 built on a 3nm process. The Xiaomi 17 offers 12GB RAM with up to 512GB storage, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra and Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi offer 16GB RAM with up to 1TB storage.
Though the battery capacity differs between models. The Xiaomi 17 has a larger 6330mAh battery with 100W wired HyperCharge and 50W wireless charging, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra features a 6000mAh battery with 90W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
The Xiaomi 17 features a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 2656 x 1220 pixels resolution, up to 3,500 nits peak brightness and a 1–120Hz LTPO refresh rate. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra uses a larger 6.9-inch OLED panel with similar brightness and adaptive refresh rate support. Both displays support HDR10+, Dolby Vision and are certified for low blue light and flicker-free performance.

The Xiaomi 17 Ultra’s camera system is headlined by a 1-inch-type LOFIC main camera which uses the Light Fusion 1050L sensor. The company says this sensor increases full-well capacity to improve HDR performance. It is paired with a 200MP telephoto camera covering a 75–100mm focal range with mechanical optical zoom, extendable up to a 400mm equivalent focal length through sensor-based methods. The Ultra also supports 8K recording at 30fps and 4K Dolby Vision recording up to 120 fps along with Log recording and ACES support.
The Xiaomi 17 uses a Light Fusion 950 sensor for its 50MP main camera with a 1/1.31-inch size, a 50MP 60mm telephoto lens with macro capability down to 10cm and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. Video recording includes 8K at 30fps and 4K Dolby Vision at up to 60fps.
Xiaomi has also introduced dedicated accessories for the Xiaomi 17 Ultra. The Photography Kit and Photography Kit Pro add physical shutter controls, a grip design inspired by traditional cameras and in the Pro version, a 2000mAh battery extension.
Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi

To mark Leica’s 100th anniversary, Xiaomi and Leica introduced a co-developed device branded as Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi. It features a nickel-anodised aluminium-alloy body and a Leica Camera Ring, which is a physical dial designed to replicate the feel of a camera zoom ring. On the software side, the camera app has a Leica Essential mode and Leica-tuned imaging profiles that emulate classic Leica cameras such as the M9 and M3 with MONOPAN 50 film.
Xiaomi Pad 8, Pad 8 Pro specifications and features

Alongside the smartphones, Xiaomi also introduced the Xiaomi Pad 8 and Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro. Both tablets feature an 11.2-inch 3.2K display with up to 144Hz refresh rate and 800 nits peak brightness. They measure around 5.75mm in thickness and weigh between 485g and 494g, depending on the model.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4, while the Pad 8 Pro uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite Mobile SoC. Both include a 9,200mAh battery with 45W charging on the Pad 8 and 67W charging on the Pad 8 Pro. The Pro model also offers a Matte Glass version with a nano-texture layer to reduce reflections.
The tablets run Xiaomi HyperOS 3, which brings updated multitasking features, including split-screen layouts and a PC-level browser mode with right-click support. Xiaomi also integrates a range of AI tools under the HyperAI umbrella, including AI writing, speech recognition and translation features.
Pricing and availability
The Xiaomi 17 starts at EUR 999 (~Rs 1,06,500) and is available in 256GB and 512GB variants. The Xiaomi 17 Ultra starts at EUR 1,499 (~Rs 1,59,800) with 512GB and 1TB options. The Leica Leitzphone powered by Xiaomi starts at EUR 1,999 (~Rs 2,13,139) and is available in a 1TB configuration.
The Xiaomi Pad 8 starts at EUR 449.9 (~Rs 47,969) while the Xiaomi Pad 8 Pro starts at EUR 549.9 (~Rs 58,632). The Matte Glass version of the Pad 8 Pro, available in a 12GB + 512GB configuration, starts at EUR 769.9 (~Rs 82,089).
Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Xiaomi 17 series along with the Xiaomi Pad 8, will launch in India on March 11.
