Vivo X9 and X9 Plus teased with dual front facing cameras ahead of official launch
Vivo X9 and X9 Plus will be the next big selfie cameraphone from the Chinese smartphone maker
Vivo has started teasing the launch of its next X series smartphones on China's social media platform, Weibo. The teaser hints at the launch of X9 and X9 Plus with a dual front-facing camera setup.
Vivo X9 and X9 Plus will be successors to older X7 and X7 Plus devices, which were launched in June as a camera-centric smartphones. The post on Vivo's official Weibo account is teasing a new smartphone with dual front-facing cameras. One of the cameras is will reportedly feature a 20MP image sensor, while the other one is likely to get a smaller 8MP sensor.
Vivo is expected to use dual image sensors for capturing high resolution images with additional depth of field. Vivo, however, will not be the first smartphone to feature dual front facing cameras. Lenovo had announced its Vibe S1 with dual front facing cameras, an 8MP primary camera and a 2MP secondary camera for capturing additional information like depth. LG announced V10 last year with dual 5MP front camera for clicking standard and wide-angle selfies.
Chinese OEMs have been pushing selfie cameras as the USP on their smartphones. Oppo has a dedicated F1 series with focus on selfie camera while Gionee is making inroads with its S series. Vivo, on the other hand, seems to be making selfie camera as the X-factor on its X series.
According to rumours, Vivo X9 and X9 Plus are expected to feature a 5.5-inch and 6-inch displays. The smartphones will get 4 or 6GB RAM and Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 653 CPU. Vivo is expected to unveil the device at a special event on November 17.
