Upcoming Samsung Galaxy A8 Star may cost Rs 34,990 in India: Report

The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is expected to compete with smartphones like OnePlus 6 and Honor 10, among others.

Samsung has already teased its upcoming smartphone, the Galaxy A8 Star on Amazon. The e-tailer is even hosting a dedicated webpage for a Samsung Star smartphone and it was tipped to be priced above Rs 30,000 in India. But now, Mysmartprice has claimed that the smartphone will be priced Rs 34,990 in the country. The Samsung Galaxy A8 Star is the global variant of the Galaxy A9 Star which was launched in China in June. The smartphone was also spotted on a support page that went live on Samsung India website.

It should be noted handset is already launched in Philippines for approximately Rs 30,500. According to the Amazon India webpage, Samsung will launch the smartphone with an 18.5:9 display aspect ratio, vertically stacked dual-rear camera setup, and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Earlier this year, the Samsung Galaxy A8 Star was spotted on the Bluetooth SIG certification website as well as on the 3C Certification Site.

Galaxy A9 Star (Galaxy A8 Star) specifications are as follows. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. It features a 6.3-inch full HD+ Super AMOLED display. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Samsung Experience UX on top and is powered by a 3,700mAh battery. In the camera department, the smartphone sports 16MP + 24MP sensors on the rear, both with a f/1.7 aperture lens and an LED flash. On the front, it comes with a 24MP sensor with a f/2.0 aperture.

Samsung had also launched Galaxy A8+ (Review) as an Amazon exclusive device Rs 32,999 in January. Just like the Galaxy A8+, the Galaxy A8 Star is expected to compete with smartphones like OnePlus 6, Honor 10 and Asus Zenfone 5Z, among others.
