Unhackable Turing Phone up for reservation now
HIGHLIGHTS

The unhackable and unbreakable Turing Phone, which was unveiled about three months ago, is now up for reservation

The Turing Phone, a liquidmorphium-forged ‘unhackable’ phone made by Turing Robotic Industries, is available for reservation now on Turing’s official website. Unveiled in April this year, the Turing Phone is an engineering feat made on a liquid metal chassis featuring decentralized, end-to-end mobile authentication security steps that do not require third party application involvement.

Pre-orders for the Turing Phone was cancelled last month, in place of which Turing initiated a reservation process to fine tune its manufacturing process. In this way, Turing will only manufacture the number of units which will be sold for sure. There is no contract involved in the reservation process, which means that the deal can be cancelled if Turing has no units to sell, or the user changes mind about buying the phone.

Liquidmorphium, thecompound used to build the phone, is an amorphous liquid metal alloy which Turing has claimed is “tougher than either titanium or steel”. Its software encryption process allows it to recognize another device without connecting to the internet or accessing third party applications, thereby allowing users to send and receive sensitive content like passwords and credit card details without phishing and other hack-related worries.

The Turing Phone is available in three colour variants – beowulf (black-and-purple), pharaoh (blue-and-red) and cardinal (red-and-white). It is also made available in three storage variants: 16GB, 64GB and 128GB. The 16GB variant is available for $610, while the 64GB is for $740, and 128GB for $870. It runs on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC, with 3GB of RAM, a 5.5” 1080p display and a 3000mAh non-removable battery. It has a 13-megapixel primary camera, and an 8-megapixel front-facing one. It is being pre-loaded with Android v5.1 (Lollipop) underneath Turing’s own AEmaeth UI. It features a fingerprint scanner and an imitation key chipset, for added external security.

Turing’s obsession with security has led to the exclusion of a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and external accessories can only be connected via Bluetooth. Even the microSD port has been replaced with a proprietary Wallaby Magstream connector.
