Sony teases ‘Next big thing’; could be the Xperia Z2 Ultra

Sony takes to social media to promote its next 'Big' smartphone, likely to be the Xperia Z2 Ultra.

Sony has posted teasers of the "next big thing" on its blog and social media accounts to tease its next smartphone, most likely the Xperia Z2 Ultra, the successor to the Sony Xperia Z Ultra launched last year.

The teaser shows a woman in a red dress and the side of a Sony phone that’s put up closely against the camera taking the photo from a 'Big Phone'. According to rumors the Xperia Z2 Ultra may have a large 6.5 or 6.4 inch screen, but no specs or details about the smartphone have been revealed as yet. The Xperia Z2 Ultra is expected to be launched at the IFA in September this year.

The smartphone is the successor the Z Ultra, launched last year. The Z Ultra smartphone boasts of a monster 6.4 inch display screen with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It has 16 GB internal memory expandable via microSD card slot and 2GB RAM. The smartphone has an 8 MP autofocus rear camera and a 2MP front camera. The device runs on Android 4.2 upgradeable to Android 4.4 and has a quad-core 2.2 GHz processor.

Sony announced the Z2 at Mobile World Congress in February. The Sony Xperia Z2 has a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with 1080 x 1920 pixels resolution. It has a Snapdragon quad-core 2.5 GHz processor coupled with 3GB RAM. It has 16 GB internal storage expandable via microSD card support to 128GB.The device packs a 3,200mAh battery. The smartphone has a 20.7 MP rear camera and a 2.2 MP front camera. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS out-of-the-box.
