We missed out on this when it was first announced by Sony, but still, better late than never. Sony Ericsson’s application site, submit.sonyericsson.com, is now open to all developers, including Indians.
Applications can be submitted to PlayNowT arena as well as to the established application service, Fun & Downloads.
“There is huge consumer interest in applications that make communication a more personal and enhanced entertainment experience. We recognise that it needs to be simple and attractive for developers to reach those consumers and that there need to be established content channels through which to push creative applications. Our new application submission process addresses these needs, giving developers easy-to-use access to the Sony Ericsson PlayNowT arena market place,” said Christopher David, Head of Developer and Partner Engagement at Sony Ericsson.
With India emerging as a power house of mobile applications, Sony Ericsson has opened up the Indian developers’ way to the world by providing them an opportunity to sell their content and applications to the Global Store. The company recognises India’s great entrepreneurial spirit and is encouraging not only companies but even sole proprietors and partnership firms in India to submit mobile content and applications.
Initially, developers for JavaT ME and Symbian OS are invited to become part of this ecosystem, which gives access to an installed base of over 200 million phone users. Later this year, the process will also cover additional mobile software platforms.
PlayNowT arena is currently available in 17 countries and will be accessible to over 20 countries by end of 2009.
