Samsung unveils 3 new smartphones of Galaxy S family: Vibrant, Epic 4G and Fascinate

Samsung’s Epic 4G (Galaxy S Pro)

Samsung has been constantly developing its portfolio of smartphones and variants in the past couple of months, following up its release of the Wave S8500 and the Galaxy S with the announcment of seven new phones, and now, less than a month of the release of the Wave, it has announced three new Galaxy S variants.

Part of the acclaimed Galaxy S family of Android phones released by Samsung, the Epic 4G will be launched in collaboration with the US carrier Sprint into the US market. This smartphone is reportedly the ‘Galaxy S Pro’, called so due to its keyboard being the only unique feature over the remaining features that mirror the basic configuration characteristics of Galaxy S, which are the 4-inch Super AMOLED display, 5 megapixel primary camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording coupled with a VGA front-oriented cam for video calls, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, six-axis accelerometer, and a 1GHz Hummingbird processor core. Also supported with software EV-DO Rev.A and WiMax radios, the Epic 4G promises to offer you theoretical downlink speeds in excess of 10Mbps, ideal for supporting the phone’s five-device mobile hotspot.

Epic 4G apparently runs on Samsung’s reworked version of Android 2.1, supporting features like DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance) and social hub. Epic 4G mirrors a lot of promise and attractive looks, with its horizontal QWERTY keypad and sleek design measuring only 14.2mm in thickness. However, it is quite disappointing to note that the official price and commercial release date for this phone are still undercover.

Samsung Vibrant (Galaxy S family)

Following hot on the heels of Epic 4G, comes the Samsung Vibrant – a second dose of the Galaxy S variant built on T-Mobile carrier which also incorporates a 1GHz Hummingbird processor and 4-inch Super AMOLED display, a 5 megapixel camera with 720p video capture and Samsung-skinned build of Android. It is expected to be launched on July 21 for $199.99 on a two-year contract with T-Mobile. Although Android fans and Galaxy S fanatics are said to have the privilege of pre-ordering in Radio Shack locations across US, starting July 1st for $50 (which reportedly gets returned to you in the form of a gift card). Finally, its good news for movie buffs and entertainment fanatics alike. Because, the Epic 4G promises to carry both The Sims 3 Collector’s Edition and a short motion picture called ‘Avatar’ pre-installed on a 2GB microSD card on it. With all the bonus and irresistible goodies on offer, it becomes really difficult to wait for the launch. However, a global release is expected on the cards shortly after the initial sales and market stabilization across the US. So, maybe its worth all the wait!

Samsung Fascinate (Galaxy S family)

Finally, its clear that Verizon too has joined the Galaxy series Android smartphone bandwagon, with its joint release of Samsung Fascinate, adding another feather in the cap of the Galaxy S series. The Fascinate is reportedly a non-keyboard Android slate with features mirroring that of Epic 4G and the Samsung Vibrant. Like its almost-twin brother Epic 4G, the Fascinate too holds some secrets – the official pricing and commercial release date still undercover. However, going by the market indication, it might be priced around $199.99 on a two-year contract basis.
