Samsung meets DGCA officials on Galaxy Note 2 fire incident
The aviation authority had recently issued an advisory asking passengers not to charge or use Samsung Galaxy Note devices onboard flights.
Samsung officials have reportedly met with authorities at the Directorate General of Civil Aviation regarding the recent incident involving a Galaxy Note 2 smartphone catching fire onboard an Indigo flight travelling from Singapore to Chennai.
The aviation authority had then issued an advisory asking passengers not to charge or use Samsung Galaxy devices onboard flights. Now reports suggest that a meeting did take place between the regulator and Samsung, where the former sought technical information about the Galaxy Note series from the South Korean manufacturer. As the world now knows, Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note 7 is under great duress following multiple incidents of the device’s battery exploding and catching fire. Samsung also apparently told the DGCA that Galaxy Note 7 smartphones manufactured before September 15 will not be sold in India, given issues with the malfunctioning batteries of the phones.
