Samsung Galaxy S8+ screen replacement to cost 25 percent more than Galaxy S7 edge: Report
HIGHLIGHTS

Samsung Galaxy S8+ features a 6.2-inch curved Infinity Display protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are pretty good looking smartphones, arguably amongst the best looking smartphones of the year. The 'Infinity Display' design with dual curved edges combined with thin top and bottom bezels help it stands out from the other smartphones available in the market. However, with so much glass being used, there is a chance that the screen might get damaged if your drop it.

According to a Poland-based tech website, the screen replacement for Galaxy S8+ will cost €250 (around Rs 17,500). This price is almost 25 percent higher than the €200 screen cost of last year's Galaxy S7 edge. This shouldn't come to a surprise because most reports indicate that Galaxy S8 and S8+'s bill of materials is higher than its predecessors.

According to IHS Markit, the Galaxy S8 is more expensive to make than its predecessor. The cost of manufacturing has reportedly jumped to $307.50, nearly $43.34 more that last year's Galaxy S7. The total bill of materials is calculated to be around $301.60 for the Galaxy S8.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature a new 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch QHD+ Infinity Display, protected by Corning's Gorilla Glass 5. While Corning claims its Gorilla Glass 5 can survive against drops higher than previous iterations, it would be apt to use a strong case to protect the smartphone in case of a drop.

Samsung has already launched the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in India and are priced at Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,900 respectively. The handsets will go on sale starting May 5 on Flipkart and other offline retail stores.
