According to reports, this delay is aimed at helping the company’s engineers get to the bottom of the Galaxy Note 7’s heating issues

It seems like Samsung’s Galaxy Note 7 fiasco may lead to a delay in launching the Galaxy S8. According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, Samsung’s executives have delayed the launch of the next flagship by two weeks so that engineers would be able to figure out exactly what was causing the Note 7 to catch fire.

Initially, the company had said that it had found an issue with the battery cell and had issued a recall. The company then sent out new ‘safe’ units to custmers. However, people started reporting that that even these units had started catching fire. The company later announced that it was no longer going to produce the Note 7 and was asking all customers to return their devices. The company’s Mobile Chief had also vowed to rebuild consumer trust in the brand.

Previous reports had suggested that Samsung may have been planning to launch the Galaxy S8 soon in order to mitigate the reputational damage caused by the Note 7. A leaked teaser hinted that Samsung may launch the new phone at next year's MWC.
