Samsung Galaxy S8 leaked renders show Bixby button and rear fingerprint sensor
HIGHLIGHTS

Samsung Galaxy S8 might come with company's logo hard-coded on the display

Samsung Galaxy S8, the next major smartphone from the Korean company is reportedly launching on March 29. While we have already seen what the final design may look like, the new renders shed more light into Samsung's new design language. The renders posted on Twitter by Benjamin Geskin are believed to be based on recent rumours around the device.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is rumoured to feature narrow bezels on the top and bottom, yet pack a huge 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays into a body that will be as big as the existing Galaxy S7 and S7 edge range. The renders show sensors placed on the top bezel of the smartphone while the bottom bezel has been completely trimmed. The render also shows iris scanner placed next to the front selfie camera, a feature adopted from the now defunct Galaxy Note 7.

Further, the render shows that Samsung will move the fingerprint sensor to the back. The rear fingerprint sensor placed next to the camera module, coincides with previous leak. With Galaxy S8, Samsung would actually hope for users to authenticate themselves using the iris scanner.

While earlier rumours indicated that Samsung will ditch all physical buttons, the new render hints at Samsung placing the volume rocker and power button to the left edge. The dedicated key for Bixby Assistant is likely to be placed at the right edge. One prominent thing missing from this render is Samsung's branding and Evan Blass claims the company will hard-code top 1/4-inch of the screen to show its logo. This could come as a bummer and an obtrusion for a lot of users.

A recent VentureBeat report indicated that Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus' displays will sport an unusual aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and a new report now claims that the display resolution will be 2960 x 1440. LG G6 is reportedly launching with a 2880 x 1440 pixels QHD+ display.

Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S8 at a multi-city event on March 29, and the product is expected to go on sale only on April 21. The smartphone will be the first device to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, but there will be an Exynos powered variant too for different markets.
