Samsung Galaxy Note 5, Project Zen smartphone details emerge
New reports reveals more details about the upcoming Samsung Note and, Note 5 Edge smartphones.
Samsung is working on its next big phone the Galaxy Note 5 and the successor to its curved Galaxy Note Edge codenamed Project Zen, according to reports.
According to SamMobile, Samsung is apparently testing several different components for the Galaxy Note 5 codenamed “Project Noble”, a flagship successor to last year’s Galaxy Note 4. The company will release only one variant of the Galaxy Note 5, which will have a 2K or a 4K flat-screen Super AMOLED display. However the company is still undecided on which of the two will be included in the final version of the device.
Samsung is testing the company's Exynos 7422 processor along with its homegrown modem. The Exynos 7422 is expected to be the company’s first ever all-in-one solution (ePoP) as it will combine the CPU, GPU, RAM, storage, and modem on a single chip. Samsung's Galaxy Alpha also has a similar solution, packing RAM and storage in a single unit. Apart from this the company is also testing an even better 7430 chip, though it may not be in ready in time for the Galaxy Note 5.
The rumors also suggest that Samsung is working on the successor to its Galaxy Note Edge smartphone. The device is codenamed ‘Project Zen’ internally and will have a similar curved design as the Galaxy Note Edge. The smartphone is rumored to have a 5.4-inch/5.5-inch Super AMOLED dual-edge curved display and is powered by a hexa-core Snapdragon 808 processor. The smartphone will have 16GB of internet storage, a 16 MP primary camera with OIS, an 8 MP front camera and the S Pen stylus that's made the Galaxy Note series unique over the past years.
According to reports, Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 5 to debut at IFA in September along with the Note 5 Edge and the alleged Gear A smartwatch. Apart from these Samsung is reportedly also working on its next flagship device the Galaxy S7 which is expected to be launched in Q1, 2016. Since the company has not made any official statement about the smartphones so take the information with a pinch of salt.
