Ringing Bells has launched the Freedom 251 smartphone for just Rs. 251, and bookings for the device will start from 6:00 am on February 18. For the price, users will get a 4-inch qHD IPS display and 8GB of storage that’s expandable by up to 32GB via a microSD card. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. At the back is a 3.2MP autofocus camera, with a 0.3MP front facing camera. The phone is equipped with a 1450mAh battery and runs Android Lollipop v5.1. The device also supports 3G connectivity and comes with preinstalled apps like Women Safety, Swacch Bharat, Fisherman, Farmer, Market, and more. The Freedom 251 comes with a one year warranty and the company boasts of having more than 650 service centers across India. 

According to the phone’s official website, the company aims to “Empower citizens, even in the remotest rural and semi-urban centres of India, with the latest in digital technology at incredible affordable prices and cascade knowledge, news and current issues so that all experience the confidence of inclusive growth and equal opportunity.” The phone will be officially unveiled on February 17 in New Delhi. The launch event will be attended by government officials like the Union Minister of Defence, Manohar Parrikar, and Member of Parliament, Murali Manohar Joshi.
