After teasing its new smartphone for quite some time, Redmi has finally launched the Redmi Note 7S in India. As expected, the new handset comes equipped with a 48MP primary rear camera and adds to the already existing lineup of Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro handsets in India. The new device is being touted as a phone that brings “48MP For Everyone” and as we speculated, it is the rebranded version of the Redmi Note 7 that was launched in China. It comes equipped with a Samsung GM1 ISOCELL 48MP sensor and is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC. 

Redmi Note 7S specifications

The Redmi Note 7S features a glass-clad design and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and the back. It sports a  6.3-inch Full HD+ waterdrop notch display with a 2340 × 1080p resolution. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC and comes in two versions with 3GB and 4GB RAM options, which are paired with 32GB and 64GB of internal storage respectively. The phone is backed by a 4000mAh battery and comes equipped with a USB Type-C port that supports Quick Charge 4. Redmi claims the handset's battery can last for more than a day under regular usage. It features a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and supports face unlock as well. 

In terms of optics, the Redmi Note 7S comes equipped with a dual-rear camera setup. It sports a 48MP + 5MP dual sensor configuration on the back that supports PDAF, EIS and AI Portrait Mode. The 48MP main camera features a half inch sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 1.6µm pixel pitch that is said to enable users to capture better images with “great” detail. The phone gets a Night Mode option in the camera as well, which is said to enable capturing good images in low-lit conditions. We will surely test the manufacturer’s claims when we review the phone. On the front, it sports a 13MP camera that supports AI Portrait mode. 

The Redmi Note 7S sports a hybrid dual SIM/microSD slot and sports a P2i splash-resistant coating. It comes equipped with an IR blaster and features a headphone jack on top. 

Redmi Note 7S price, launch offers and availability

The 3GB RAM + 32GB storage version of the Redmi Note 7S is priced at Rs 10,990, while its 4GB RAM + 64GB storage version costs Rs 12,999. The handset comes in Onyx Black, Sapphire Blue and Ruby Red colour models and will go up for sale from May 23 on Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home Stores. It is slated to be soon made offline via Mi Studio, Mi Stores and Mi preferred partners and retail stores.
