Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 appears on AnTuTu benchmark, beats Snapdragon 670 and 710
HIGHLIGHTS

The 675 is manufactured using a 11nm processor. Smartphones powered by the 675 are expected to launch in Q1 of 2019.

Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 675 SoC in October 2018 and the chipset is expected to power upcoming mid range phones in 2019. The chipset is manufactured using the 11nm processor. The chipset has appeared on the AnTuTu benchmark website and in its scores, it has beaten the Snapdragon 710 SoC. According to the AnTuTu listing, the Snapdragon 675 scored 1,74,402 points whereas the Snapdragon 670 scored 1,50,000. The Snapdragon 710 SoC scored 1,70,000 points. The Snapdragon 675 outperformed the 710 by 4,402 points.

The Snapdragon 675 is the successor to the Snapdragon 670, which was announced back in August 2018. The 675 brings notable improvements over its predecessor and has been designed to deliver enhanced performance in gaming and photography using AI-based features. The Snapdragon 675 SoC sports a newer architecture with fourth-generation octa-core Kryo 460 CPU, which comes with two high-power cores clocked at 2GHz and six low-power cores that run on 1.7GHz. It can support up to 8GB RAM at 1866 MHz.

The Snapdragon 675 comes with the Qualcomm Kryo 460 CPU, Qualcomm Spectra 250L triple-camera ISP, an improved Qualcomm AI Engine, Qualcomm Hexagon 685 DSP, Adreno 612 GPU and Snapdragon X12 LTE modem. Qualcomm says it can boot games 30 percent faster and surfing the web should also be 35 percent faster over its predecessor. The SoC also comes equipped with the Adreno 612 GPU that is said to isolate graphics demanding tasks for improved efficiency.

Using the Qualcomm X12 LTE Modem, the new processor can deliver download speeds of up to 600 Mbps with 3x carrier aggregation. It supports Bluetooth 5, features direct audio broadcast to multiple devices, supports ultra-low power earbuds, and also enables Qualcomm aptX, aptX Classic and aptX HD codecs.

For the optics, according to Qualcomm’s product page, the Snapdragon 675 is, “Powered by second-generation architecture for 14-bit processing, capture dynamic visual content at up to 25 megapixels and HD slo-mo recording at up to 480 fps. Up to 3 camera support in front or back enables features such as 5x optical zoom and Bokeh”. We can expect smartphone manufacturers to highlight this feature of the SoC by giving a dual or even triple camera setup on the smartphone.

Devices powered by this new chip are slated to hit the market by Q1 2019. Since MWC 2019 is just around the corner, we can expect to see smartphones powered by the new chipset launch at the event.
