In his post, Sharma wrote, “I am surprised how the iPhone killed its camera (software/app) so badly in 16. It is so bad that I am seriously thinking of a Pixel now.” He also asked if others were facing similar issues with their iPhones.

Sharma’s concerns resonated with several users on the platform. Parminder Singh, a former Google executive, responded by saying, “Similar experience. Something’s seriously wrong with either the camera or the app.”

One user remarked, “iPhone 6 as the last iPhone with innovation. Later ones are more glamourous with technical features. Now the last 3 versions are just replicas.” Another shared their experience with the camera quality, saying, “Camera quality in iPhone degrades rapidly within a year of purchase in my experience. Doesn’t matter which model you buy.”

Echoing similar concerns, a third user commented, “Yes absolutely right, the brand who is known for its name Apple and people blindly consider it, failed to manage it’s battery life and consumption, I wonder the makers are only focusing on making money instead of making a product.”

Sharma’s comments have sparked a broader conversation about whether Apple’s recent camera updates meet user expectations. While Apple is known for its camera quality, many users seem to feel that recent software changes have impacted its performance negatively.

Interestingly, reports suggest that Apple is already working to address some of these concerns with the upcoming iPhone 17 series. The word has it that the upcoming lineup will feature advanced hardware for better heat management, which could enhance overall performance, including the camera’s functionality.

Sharma’s potential switch to Google’s Pixel highlights the increasing competition in the smartphone market. Google’s Pixel phones have gained a reputation for their exceptional camera capabilities, often challenging Apple’s dominance in this area.
