Oppo has announced a new selfie centric smartphone in China with 16MP front camera. Apart from that selfie camera, Oppo A57 is basically a budget smartphone with very standard specifications.

Oppo A57 features a 5.2-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. The display used here is an IPS LCD, which should offer decent viewing angles. The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 435 processor, an octa-core chipset clocked at 1.4GHz coupled with Adreno 505 GPU. Oppo A57 is aided by 3GB RAM and 32GB storage, further expandable up to 128GB via microSD card slot. The smartphone offers a design that is strikingly similar to all other Oppo devices. The smartphone is made available in gold and rose gold colour variants.

Oppo A57's main attraction is the 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0 aperture and 1.12nm pixel size. The smartphone's main camera is a 13MP one with f/2.2 aperture and phase detection autofocus. Oppo has concentrated on delivering a stellar front facing camera without much focus on its main camera here. Oppo A57, despite good front camera is not part of the selfie series from the company.

Oppo A57 comes with LTE support and houses a 2900mAh battery. The 7.65mm thick device runs ColorOS 3.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The smartphone weighs 147 grams. Oppo A57 will become available in China from December 12 and the device is priced at 1,599 Yuan (approximately RS 15,990). It is unclear whether Oppo plans to bring this device outside its mainland.
