OnePlus has announced that it will update the OnePlus One and 2 to Android Marshmallow next year. The company said in its official forum that the OnePlus One’s Cyanogen OS will be updating to Marshmallow in Q1 2016. The OnePlus 2, with OxygenOS, will also be upgraded during the same time period. The company has not mentioned when the OnePlus X will be updated to Marshmallow, and said that it is working hard to roll out the update, as soon as possible. The company also announced that they have pushed kernel sources for the OnePlus X on GitHub.

OnePlus also stated that the update for OnePlus 2 will include the new Marshmallow API for its fingerprint sensor. The post also talked about how the company chose to switch over to the standard Android M implementation, even though it was requested to create an API for the same in OxygenOS.

In August, OnePlus One devices started receiving the update to CyanogenMod 12.1, based on Android Lollipop v5.1.1. The update brought a number of new features, as well as visual updates to the OnePlus One. The update also patched the Stagefright bug. OnePlus started rolling out the OxygenOS 2.1 update for OnePlus 2 in September 2015. The update added a manual mode for the camera, and also enabled Raw support for third party camera apps. It also added a colour balance slider in display settings. The slider allows the user to make the display warmer or cooler, based on preference. It also included a number of bug fixes and improvements.

OnePlus announced its latest device, the OnePlus X, last month. It is available in two variants – Onyx and Ceramic. The Onyx variant is priced at Rs. 16,999, while the Ceramic one is at Rs. 22,999. The device comes with a 5-inch Full HD AMOLED display, and is powered by a Snapdragon 801 SoC, with 3GB RAM, 13MP primary camera, 8MP front camera, 16GB internal storage (expandable to 128GB), 4G LTE support and 2525mAh battery.
