The company’s CEO, Pete Lau, previously teased the OnePlus 7 series of phones with a gif while repeating the word ‘smooth,’ which sparked speculations of new features on the upcoming handsets. However, Lau has now made an announcement. An announcement that the company will make a launch event announcement on April 23. So, it’s an announcement about an announcement? Seems like OnePlus is leaving no stone unturned to milk the most out of the upcoming launch.
A previous report tipped that OnePlus 7 launch will take place simultaneously in New York, UK and Bengaluru on May 14. OnePlus could’ve taken the easier route and confirmed if the rumour is true, or announce the launch date officially. However, where’s the fun in that, right? Well, in any case, we will need to wait till April 23 to hear the official launch event announcement, which is most likely about the OnePlus 7 series of handsets. However, the upcoming OnePlus phones have leaked numerous times, revealing what to expect almost entirely. The company is rumoured to launch the OnePlus 7, OnePlus 7 Pro and the OnePlus 5G models next month.

As mentioned earlier, Lau’s previous tweet emphasised the company’s new device is ‘smooth.’ This could be a hint towards a higher refresh rate display as some leaks about the OnePlus 7 Pro, which were outed on the same day, suggest the same. As per a previous report, the device might be equipped with a 6.64-inch curved Quad HD+ Super AMOLED “90hz” display with a pop-up front camera assembly. On the other hand, the OnePlus 7 could sport a flat 6.4-inch screen with a waterdrop notch display design. Both handsets are expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 855 SoC.
OnePlus 7 Pro could sport a triple-rear camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor, a secondary telephoto lens and an ultra-wide tertiary camera. Meanwhile, the OnePlus 7 is touted to get a dual-rear camera setup with a 48MP primary sensor. Additional details about the OnePlus 7 Pro includes Warp charge support at 30W, along with a 4000mAH battery, dual speaker setup, and USB 3.1 connectivity.
