OnePlus reveals the last spec for the the OnePlus 2 before launch, will have a 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM

OnePlus has revealed that its upcoming OnePlus 2 will have 4GB of RAM, stating that this is the last official reveal till the device is launched. The announcement dispels other rumours about the RAM on the device. Company CEO, Pete Lau confirmed the news via a post on the official OnePlus 2 forum and on Twitter. It was also revealed that the phone will have LPDDR4 RAM instead of the commonly used LPDDR3. The new RAM has a lower operating voltage and higher data speed.

Till now, OnePlus has confirmed that the phone will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 SoC. The Snapdragon 810 SoC has been under fire for its heating issues, even while performing simple tasks. We saw this first have on the Sony Xperia Z3+. However, the company claims that it has devised countermeasures to handle the heat. It was also revealed that the phone will have a USB Type-C port and a fingerprint-sensor. According to OnePlus, the latter will be faster than Apple's Touch ID. Also, the OnePlus 2 will be running on OnePlus’ own OxygenOS ROM based on Android Lollipop.

Earlier this week, Lau also announced that the phone will be priced under $450, which meets the expectations of the device being priced lower than other flagship phones featuring similar specs. We also know that the phone will be announced on July 27 and in VR. This makes OnePlus the first company to launch a product in VR. We also have confirmation that the OnePlus 2 will be launched in India the very next day. Rumours about a 2K display and dual-camera setup are yet to be confirmed though. It is also rumored that the phone has a full metal build.

However, all these reveals do point towards a single phone rather than multiple variants, which is another rumours floated a few days ago. It is plausible though that OnePlus might be testing a different, less powerful, mid range version of the phone, which they talked about earlier. As for the OnePlus 2, the company has revealed a lot of stuff and made lots of claims as well.
