A new update has gone live for the OnePlus 7T and the 7T Pro. To check for the update simply go to Settings, then System and System updates.  The update version is OxygenOS 10.0.4 for the OnePlus 7T and Oxygen OS 10.0.3 for the OnePlus 7T Pro. There are two big changes that come with the update. The first is better low light photography from the front-facing camera. The second is the addition of Cloud Service for the Gallery. This feature is for India only. With the cloud service, OnePlus 7T and 7T Pro users will be able to back up their photos to the cloud, similar to what we have seen with the Google Photos app.

All the changes coming with the update are as follows

System

  • Optimized translation accuracy
  • Optimized overall communication (network, phone calls, mobile data) performance
  • General bug fixes and improvements
  • Added Cloud Service for Gallery (India only)

Camera

  • Optimized quality of the front camera for better pictures at night

We recently compared the gaming performance of the OnePlus 7T Pro to other flagship smartphones like the ROG Phone 2 and the Black Sark 2. In our comparison, we concluded that with gaming, the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren does have an edge over the regular OnePlus 7T Pro. The closest competitor to the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren addition comes in the form of the Asus ROG Phone II. The ROG Phone 2 comes close and in some cases even beats the OnePlus with higher stability and framerates. The Black Shark looks to be losing its teeth and shows signs of ageing when compared to the others on this list and barely manages to keep up with the OP7T Pro. The question to ask is whether there’s enough to consider the McLaren Edition over the regular OnePlus 7T Pro. For gaming, we have seen the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition with 12GB RAM show higher frame rates and stability when compared to the regular OnePlus 7T Pro. But this difference isn't big enough to warrant an upgrade. You can check out the comparison in detail here.
