OnePlus has officially announced the launch of its flagship OnePlus 5 in a soft gold colour option. The company has been teasing the third colour variant for the past few weeks and has now made it official. The limited edition soft gold OnePlus 5 colour variant joins the already available matte black and slate grey versions of the smartphone.
OnePlus says the new soft gold variant will only be available in limited quantities and features a matte gold finish at the back and a white front. The smartphone also features a matching gold accent around the front fingerprint sensor and looks similar to the soft gold OnePlus 3, announced last year. OnePlus claims it takes an average of 180 days to finish the soft gold coating and the finish of the soft gold OnePlus 5 is 30 percent finer than its previous soft gold devices.
"As a maker of the most beautifully designed smartphones, it gives us immense joy to introduce the latest OnePlus 5 with even more refined and elegant Soft Gold finish this festival season. The latest OnePlus 5 Soft Gold will appeal to those who are looking for the perfect balance of beautiful design and powerful features," said Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India.
In terms of specifications, the soft gold OnePlus 5 will only be available in one configuration - with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD AMOLED display and is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 chipset. The handset also offers a dual 16MP + 20MP rear camera setup with one normal wide-angle lens and another telephoto lens. There is also a 16MP front camera with electronic image stabilisation and f/2.0 aperture.
The OnePlus 5 supports WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, GPS and also has a 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is backed by a 3300mAh battery and supports Dash charging. The smartphone will go on sale during the Independence Day sale event starting August 9 on Amazon India and also on the OnePlus Store at 12 noon on the same day. The device can also be experienced and purchased from OnePlus experience stores in Bengaluru, Noida's Mall of India and Select Citywalk in New Delhi.
