OnePlus 10 Pro Global Variant may ship with OxygenOS 12, not unified OS
HIGHLIGHTS

OnePlus’ unified OS is reportedly delayed

As such, OnePlus 10 Pro may instead come with OxygenOS 12 based on Android 12

To recall, unified OS is the name of the OS that will combine OxygenOS and ColorOS.

As part of the whole merger between OxygenOS and ColorOS , OnePlus is expected to release a new hybrid software skin called — unified OS. However, this supposed next chapter of OxygenOS might still take some time. Tipster, Yogesh Brar has told 91Mobiles that the new OS won’t be coming within the global edition of OnePlus 10 Pro, which is rumored to launch in the month of March. Instead, the OnePlus 10 Pro will hit the global markets with OxygenOS 12 itself.

Global OnePlus 10 Pro with OxygenOS 12 instead of the unified OS: Details

Last September, OnePlus’ chief Pete Lau disclosed plans to “further integrate” the OnePlus brand into its sister concern, Oppo, and this eventual future was referred to as OnePlus 2.0. Although some effects of this change have been apparent in the recent OnePlus phones and the underlying software, the biggest change is yet to come. It will be a sort of “unified OS” sharing the codebase, features, and aesthetic elements of both OxygenOS and ColorOS.

Initially, the OnePlus 10 Pro’s global launch was expected to mark the debut of this unified OS. However, things seem to have reportedly changed. So, in its place, global OnePlus 10 Pro buyers will get a more familiar taste of OxygenOS. This is said to be the latest OxygenOS 12 with Android 12 at the core. This means Material UI and all the perks that come with it. The only concern in this area will be with respect to software stability and let’s hope OnePlus will have ironed out all the kinks by then.

As for the rest of the phone, we expect it to share the same specs as the Chinese variant. This includes a 6.7-inch E4 LTPO 2.0 120Hz OLED display with 3200×1440 pixel resolution, Snapdragon 8 Gen1 SoC, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, vapor chamber cooling solution, Hasselblad 2.0-backed triple camera setup, 5000mAh battery with 80W ‘SuperVOOC’ wired and 50W wireless charging support.

Let’s wait and see how this OnePlus 2.0 journey pans out and how it impacts the OnePlus phones.
