Nokia 8, HMD Global's flagship smartphone is tipped to launch on July 31. The handset will be powered by Snapdragon 835 SoC and is said to be priced around Rs 45,000.

HMD Global's much-rumoured Android flagship smartphone will be called Nokia 8 and not Nokia 9. According to an unnamed Scandinavian retailer, the Finnish company will launch its flagship smartphone powered by Snapdragon 835 on July 31.

HMD Global is expected to introduce at least four new smartphones before the end of this year. While most rumours in the past have suggested that company's flagship will be Nokia 9, this new report from Win Future claims the handset will be called Nokia 8. The smartphone is also said to be priced at €589 (approximately Rs 43,500), which hints at a premium pricing.

The Nokia 8 is said to launch with model number TA-1004 and feature 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. A Nokia smartphone with model number TA-1004 received FCC certification last month and also appeared on Antutu and GeekBench benchmarking platforms. The handset is expected to arrive in 4GB and 8GB RAM options. Other details include a 5.3-inch Quad HD display, Snapdragon 835 chipset under the hood and a dual 13MP rear camera setup. The new leak claims Nokia 8 will be launched in blue, steel, gold/blue and gold/copper colour variants.

A leak from last week suggested that Nokia is working on a mid-range Nokia 8 smartphone powered by Snapdragon 660 chipset while flagship Nokia 9 will feature Snapdragon 835 chipset. Another leak showcased real-life images of purported Nokia 9 revealing the dual rear camera setup and Snapdragon 835 chipset. It remains to be seen whether HMD Global opts for Nokia 8 or Nokia 9 branding for its flagship device.

HMD Global recently confirmed that its mid-range Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 Android smartphones will only be available from mid-August in India. The company said the delay is because of the huge demand for its entry-level Nokia 3 smartphone. Amazon India has commenced registration for Nokia 6 and the first sale will be held on August 23.
