Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus reportedly receiving November security update
Nokia is reportedly seeding the November security update for some of its older handsets.
The Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6.1, and Nokia 6.1 Plus phones are now getting the update.
You can check if the update is available for your phone by heading over to settings.
Nokia is no slouch when it comes to seeding the latest Android updates to its handsets. The company has already revealed when its handsets will get the Android 10 update via its roadmap. Now, a new report suggests that some older Nokia handsets like the Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus and the Nokia 7 Plus are now receiving the November 2019 security update in India, and in a couple of other regions like the US and Germany. NPU reports that there is no additional feature being added with the latest November Android security patch, which is now being rolled out for the aforementioned devices.
The update is around 106.6MB in size for the Nokia 6.1 and will take up about 97.1MB for Nokia 7 Plus users, the report claims. The same update for the Nokia 6.1 is said to be 62MB in size. While a notification about the update’s availability should pop up automatically on the handsets, one can manually check for it by heading over to Settings and checking for updates under the system updates tab. As mentioned earlier, the changelog mentions that the update only brings the November Android Security patch for the phones and it resolves a number of vulnerabilities, including one that can enable an attacker to remotely execute arbitrary code via a specially crafted file.
In other Nokia news, we recently came across a report that claimed Google Assistant's new Ambient Mode is now rolling out to more Nokia handsets. Nokia 6.1, Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1, Nokia 8.1, Nokia 9 PureView and even Nokia 3, Nokia 3.2, and Nokia 4.2 handsets are apparently getting the update. The new Ambient Mode on Google Assistant is a new mode that turns your device into a smart display when it is plugged in. It was first introduced with Nokia 6.2 and Nokia 7.2 smartphones.
