Nokia 6.1 Plus to get Android 9 Pie soon as Beta testing is complete
HIGHLIGHTS

Users that were testing the Beta version of Android 9 on the Nokia 6.1 Plus have received a thank you mail from Nokia stating that the Beta test is complete.

According to Nokia Power User, the Beta testing for Android 9 on the Nokia 6.1 Plus is complete and the company is expected to roll out the update soon. HMD has marked the Beta testing for Android 9 on the Nokia 6.1 Plus as complete and has mailed a thank you note to all the beta testers. The thank you note reads, “Many thanks for being part of the Android 9 Pie Nokia phones beta labs program with your Nokia 6.1 Plus. Thanks to your valuable feedback, the official release will soon be ready and available to millions of users. Once Android 9 is approved by your operator, it will be automatically pushed to you via OTA.”

There is no information available about an official release date for the updated OS on the Nokia smartphone. There is no India release date available either. It is however nice to see Nokia live up to the promise of issuing software updates to their smartphone.

Speaking of the specifications of the Nokia 6.1 Plus, the smartphone has a 5.8-inch Full HD+ notched display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and is protected by a Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor and is supported by 4GB RAM. The 64GB local storage can be expanded up to 400GB via MicroSD card. The dual-SIM device is backed by a 3060mAh battery that supports Quick Charge 3.0 technology. When it comes to camera, the Nokia 6.1 Plus is equipped with a 16MP + 5MP dual-rear camera setup with Zeiss lenses and on the front, it sports a 16 MP sensor.

In our review of the Nokia 6.1 Plus, we said, “The Nokia 6.1 Plus is a capable mid-ranger that ticks all the boxes when it comes to the trending features in smartphones of 2018. Its closest rival is the Redmi Note 5 Pro which also runs on the same hardware. The choice comes down to whether you prefer a stock Android interface or custom MIUI. However, an underwhelming camera makes it difficult to recommend this phone over other more capable devices in that price range. The 6.1 Plus is a performance enthusiast’s phone of choice, one who wants a no-nonsense offering that gets the job done. If you have a knack for photography though, the Redmi Note 5 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi A2 are what you should be looking at.”

The Nokia 7 plus received the Android 9 update towards the end of September. You can read more about that here.
