Nokia 6, the first Android smartphone from HMD Global, has surpassed 1 million registrations. The China-exclusive smartphone will be available via flash sale on January 19.

The Nokia 6 is the first device under the brand licensing agreement between HMD Global and Nokia. The smartphone was announced exclusively for the Chinese market on January 8, and will be available for sale from JD.com. The smartphone is priced at 1,699 Yuan (approximately Rs 16,990), and is already attracting a lot of interest among Chinese smartphone buyers.

The smartphone features a metal unibody design and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. It houses a 5.5-inch 1080p display, and is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor. The Nokia 6 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, expandable by up to 256GB.

As far as imaging is concerned, the Nokia 6 sports a 16MP rear snapper with f/2.0 aperture and phase detection autofocus. The front camera is an 8MP fixed focus sensor with f/2.0 aperture and 1080p video recording support. The Nokia 6 also comes with a fingerprint sensor on the front and the device is backed by a 3000mAh battery. The first smartphone from HMD Global under Nokia brand uses a microUSB port as opposed to USB-C found on most recent smartphones.

The Nokia 6 can be considered as a new beginning for the brand under HMD Global. The company is rumoured to announce budget smartphone codenamed Nokia D1C and a flagship smartphone with Snapdragon 835 at Mobile World Congress next month.
