MTS Duet: Dual-SIM (CDMA+GSM) Gingerbread smartphone launched for Rs. 4,799
MTS eyes the GSM subscribers in India with the new Duet smartphone.
Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), which operates under the MTS brand, has introduced a new dual-SIM (CDMA GSM) smartphone called the MTS Duet. Priced at Rs.4,799, the new MTS phone runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread and is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S1 processor (integrated with CDMA). The smartphone comes bundled with special MTS voice and data plans.
The MTS Duet comes with a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. It features a 3MP camera, wireless tethering, expandable storage up to 32GB and 1200mAh battery. As an introductory offer – customer gets unlimited free local calling and Data usage for 2 months.

MTS, the only CDMA-exclusive service provider in India, new dual-SIM (CDMA GSM) smartphone is part of its strategy to target GSM subscribers in India. The company also plans to team up with smartphone makers such as Samsung and Micromax.
MTS recently launched an entry-level launched a dual-SIM (CDMA GSM) phone for the West Bengal market. The phone features a 2.4-inch LCD screen, Audio Player/Audio Recorder, 3.5 mm universal ear jack, Video recorder and play-MP4 support, 1.3 MP Camera, FM Radio and Bluetooth. MTS is offering voice and SMS benefits worth Rs. 600 free with the phone, priced at Rs. 1,699.
