Meizu releases Flyme 5.0 OS update for MX5

Meizu has released a stable version of the Flyme 5.0 OS for the MX5 in China and is expected to roll out to users in other markets gradually. The Meizu MX5 was launched in August in  the country and came with Flyme 4.5 based on Android Lollipop v5.0. The Flyme 5.0.1.1A update will offer a number of changes to the smartphone’s desktop, notifications, lockscreen, browser and more. It will also bring split screen mode, multitasking, floating notice, folders with automatic naming, and batch finishing icons for the desktop.

Users of the Meizu MX5 will now be able to pull down a notification for additional information and can also set priority notifications under settings. The new update also brings a new search function, new volume category management, enhanced network setting options as well as better power management options.   

In the music section, users of the phone will see a more comprehensive music library and have a new offline radio function. The update also lets users access songs based on artist collection. Flyme 5.0 also offers support better support for cache management for videos as well other camera features. These include a gif shooting mode, a time watermark switch and a voice camera switch as well as small adjustments in the manual shooting mode. There have also been improvements to the Weather, Calendar, Notes, Clock, App Store, Mail, and the Game Center as well. User will also get a new application called Toolbox. This includes utility features such as flashlight, mirror, compass, level, measurement scale, and more.

The Meizu MX5 comes with a 5.5-inch sAMOLED display. It is powered by a 2.2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 SoC with 3GB of RAM. At the back of the phone is a 20.7MP camera with laser assisted autofocus and a dual tone flash. At the front of the device is a 5MP front facing camera. The device also comes with a fingerprint sensor with mTouch 2.0 identification. It also comes with a 3150mAh battery as well as 4G capability and dual SIM support.
