Meizu MX6 leaked renders suggest curved edge 3D Touch display

Meizu MX6 leaked renders suggest curved edge 3D Touch display
HIGHLIGHTS

The phone may alternatively be named Meizu Pro 6 and be powered by MediaTek’s Helio X20 SoC.

Concept renders of the Meizu MX6 have surfaced, showing good design ideas and dual curved edges. The device, as we see in the photos, look similar to the recently-launched Xiaomi Mi 5 and Samsung Galaxy S7 devices, continuing Meizu’s trend of steady development. The company has introduced a number of competent devices with decent firepower under the hood and neat design that may have taken major inspiration from Apple’s iPhone 6 Plus.

The device, that may also be called the Meizu Pro 6, is expected to run on the MediaTek Helio X20 deca-core SoC, powered by Mali-T880 GPU. Recent reports have also seen Meizu working on 3D Touch-based display panel technology, and the pressure-sensitive display technology is expected to make it to the upcoming device. Rumours of numerous other companies working around 3D Touch display panels have been hitting the charts of late, a trend sparked off by Apple’s implementation of the technology on its iPhone 6s and 6s Plus. The device is expected to be launched around May 2016, by which we expect to see a few more device bearing similar specifications as the Meizu MX6, i.e., Helio X20, dual-edge display, 3D Touch, etc.

Meizu has seen good improvement and acceptance of its devices, with its MX5 flagship and M2 Note generating a reasonable amount of consumer interest upon being launched in India. While Meizu was expected to bring the Pro 5 to India, the launch failed to take place. Meizu’s smartphones have carried a simple, uniform design language across most of its devices until now, and the Meizu MX6 concept renders look quite different from it. While it is certainly not beyond a company to vary from its design statement, the final product will almost certainly differ from how the concept looks like.
