Gates was reportedly invited to speak at the summit hosted by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). However, recent updates to the programme schedule do not list him as a speaker. ANI had previously stated that he was going to participate.

The development comes amid renewed scrutiny of Gates’ previous relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. New revelations from Epstein-related documents have sparked controversy, with allegations circulating online and in certain sections of the media. A Gates spokesperson has strongly denied the allegations, calling them baseless and defamatory. Gates has denied the allegations, claiming they are false and stem from an unsent email written by Epstein that was never shared.

Meanwhile, Gates arrived in Andhra Pradesh on Monday and was welcomed by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. During his visit, he spoke with the state secretariat about expanding cooperation in fields such as healthcare, agriculture, education, and technology-driven governance. Some groups protested his visit, citing concerns over the ongoing controversy. Summit organisers have not issued an official statement confirming the reason for his apparent absence from the speaker list.

Previously, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang cancelled his plans to visit the India AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The company stated that Huang would not be travelling due to unforeseen circumstances.
