Apple’s budget MacBook to cost less than Rs 60,000?
Several reports have claimed that Apple is developing a MacBook designed specifically to bring down the starting price of its laptop range. The laptop was earlier expected to be announced in January this year. But now, the launch window is around March or April. Coming to the pricing expectations, the laptop is expected to cost around $599 in the US. This translates to roughly Rs 54,000. But before you get too excited, it is also important to note that pricing in India is often higher when compared to the US due to several factors like taxes, import duty and so on. Hence, in India, the expected price of the device could be around Rs 60,000 or 65,000. Even with this price, it will still be the cheapest MacBook in India, giving more users a chance to be part of the Apple ecosystem.
Expected features and specifications
Along with the price, the upcoming MacBook’s features and specifications are also being talked about at length. The biggest change that is expected to be in the laptop is that it could come with an iPhone chip, possibly the A18 Pro, instead of the M series chips that are usually found on MacBooks. This move could help reduce manufacturing costs while still offering enough performance for web browsing, document editing, video calls, and media consumption.
The strategy suggests that Apple may not be targeting power users but rather students, first time laptop buyers, and existing iPhone users who want better ecosystem integration. By using an already established chip platform, Apple could avoid a complete redesign and speed up production timelines while keeping the device efficient and power friendly.
In addition to this, the laptop may ship with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. In terms of display, we could see a 12.9 inch LCD panel with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. However, do remember that none of these specifications or the pricing details have been made official yet. Hence, it is best to take this information with a pinch of salt.
