Indian AI startup Sarvam AI has announced its entry into the hardware space with the unveiling of AI-powered smartglasses. The announcement was made during the India AI Impact Summit, where the company shared early details about the upcoming device. This comes after Sarvam AI’s co-founder and chief executive, Pratyush Kumar, revealed on X that the company is preparing to launch AI smartglasses called Sarvam Kaze.

Kumar also shared a short teaser video showing the sleek pair of glasses with built-in cameras, drawing comparisons to Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was seen trying out the device. Sharing an image from the event, Kumar wrote that the Prime Minister was the first person to test the smartglasses.
As per the company, Sarvam Kaze is specifically designed and made in India and is expected to launch in May 2026. The company stated that the glasses are powered by its own in-house AI models. For the unversed, the device is made to listen, process spoken input, respond in real time and capture visual context via its onboard cameras. Sarvam says developers will also be able to create custom applications for the platform, expanding its potential use cases.
This comes at a time when AI wearables are gaining momentum all over the world. Reports suggest that Meta has reported strong sales for its smartglasses lineup, and Apple is also believed to be working on similar products. However, the details around pricing, commercial launch and availability still remain under wraps and we may have to wait for a few months to know more.
