@evleaks has also tipped the device to come with a large 6.4-inch QHD display
Lenovo’s first smartphone under Google’s Project Tango may be called the PHAB2 Pro. According to a Tweet by @evleaks, the phone will come with a large 6.4-inch QHD display, but he did not reveal much else. However, it was already confirmed that the device would feature a display size of less than 6.5-inches and would be powered by a Qualcomm SoC. Further, the device would come with three cameras. A standards RGB camera will lend colour details, while two depth-sensing cameras with fisheye lenses would perceive space, motion and area. These cameras will be used to map and scale rooms, and create 3D maps of the area.
Project Tango was unveiled in 2014 and a development kit was made available later that year. The kit was called the ‘Project Tango Tablet Development Kit’ and consisted of a 7-inch tablet powered by a Nvidia Tegra K1 SoC with 4GB of RAM. The kit was priced at $1024 at launch. However, Lenovo stated that the device will be priced at around $500 (approx. Rs. 33,500).
Lenovo isn’t the only company working with Google on Project Tango. Intel had announced its collaboration with Google in August last year and Intel’s smartphone under Project Tango is available on the company’s website for $399 (approx. Rs. 26,700).
