Jolla C smartphone with Sailfish OS 2.0 launched at €169

Finnish smartphone manufacturer, Jolla has announced its second smartphone called the Jolla C. The device is launched as a part of its new Sailfish Community Device Program and is priced at €169 (approx. Rs. 12,600) in Finland. The device is expected to start shipping from July this year and only 1,000 device are available. However, all units have been sold out. The Jolla C features a 5-inch HD IPS display and is powered by a 1.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 212 SoC with 2GB of RAM. It sports 8MP and 2MP cameras, and offers 16GB of storage that can be expanded by up to 32GB. The phone runs Sailfish OS 2.0, which is compatible with Android apps. 

Besides receiving the phone, those who are a part of the program will also be allowed to partake in online developer support sessions specifically meant for the Jolla C smartphone. The sessions will be led by the Jolla R&D design and product chiefs. Further, the members will also be invited to the International Sailfish Community Event scheduled to be held on the June 17 this year.

Jolla’s previous smartphone was launched in India back in 2014 at Rs. 16,499. The device features a 4.5-inch qHD display and is powered by a 1.5Ghz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. It sports 8MP and 2MP cameras and offers 16GB of storage. Jolla has also partnered with Intex for the Aqua Fish smartphone, which was announced at MWC Shanghai in 2015 and a referece smartphone was showcased. The device itself was unveiled at MWC in this year and sales were expected to start by the end of April.
