Is the HTC One ME9 coming to India next month?
HTC could launch the HTC One ME9 this June in India. It is an affordable version of the HTC One M9+.
After announcing the One M9+ earlier this year, Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC could be gearing up to launch the One ME9 in India. The One ME9 is supposedly the affordable version of the One M9+. Its images were leaked from TENAA, the Chinese certification agency, by @upleaks. After this Indian website Zauba, which keeps tracks of shipments going in and out of the country, reported that 1700 dummy units of the One ME9 have been imported into the country.
The One ME9 is being touted as an affordable version of the One M9+ which is currently available around the 50K price mark. According to an alleged HTC India employee, the company is indeed gearing the phone for launch in the third week of June and it will be priced at Rs. 35,000. The phone will have a polycarbonate body like the previous E series devices we have seen in the past from HTC. From the leaked images we can see that it is also missing the secondary camera on the back.
Here are the alleged specs of the HTC One ME9
HTC One ME9 | |
SoC | Mediatek MT6795 (Helio X10) |
RAM | 3GB |
Storage | 32GB |
microSD support | Yes |
Display | 5.2-inch |
Resolution | 1440 x 2560p |
Rear camera | 20MP |
Front camera | 4MP Ultrapixel |
OS | Android 5 |
Battery | 2840mAh |
From the leaked images we can also see that the HTC One ME9 will retain the fingerprint scanner we saw on the HTC One M9+. It is also reported that the phone will be available in three colour options: Classic Rose Gold, Gold Sepia and Meteor Grey. The phone would be replacing last year’s HTC One E8.
It is noteworthy that the company hasn't launched its main flagship phone, the HTC One M9 in India. The company did say that the One M9+ is much suitable for the Indian market. However, we believe the overheating Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 was the culprit for that decision.
