Thinking about upgrading to the next iPhone? You might need to save a little extra. Apple is reportedly planning to raise prices for its upcoming iPhone 17 series. While tariffs may be part of the equation, the company seems more focused on justifying the hike with new features and design upgrades, according to The Wall Street Journal.

While the US and China have paused many tariffs, a 20 percent tariff on Chinese goods is still in place. To deal with this, the tech giant has been making changes. The company has started producing more iPhones in India. “India accounted for around 13 percent to 14 percent of global iPhone shipments last year and the number is expected to double this year,” the report mentioned.
However, the more expensive models, like the Pro and Pro Max, will still mostly be made in China. These premium models remain popular in the US, with investment bank Jefferies estimating that 36 to 39 million of the 65 million iPhones sold in the US last year were these high-end models.
So, instead of directly blaming tariffs or rising production costs, Apple appears to be focusing on making the iPhone 17 lineup feel like a major upgrade. For consumers, this could mean paying a bit more for the latest iPhones.
Currently, the price of iPhone 16 models ranges from Rs 79,900 for the base model to Rs 1,44,900 for the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This year’s lineup is expected to include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
