iPhone 12 users are facing connectivity issues worldwide on LTE and 5G networks
HIGHLIGHTS

The issue is seen on all iPhone 12 models.

The phone drops the connection abruptly.

People from all over the world are facing this issue.

The new iPhone 12's are breaking sales records for Apple, but for a month or so some users have been reporting connectivity issues on their new iPhone on the  Apple forums .

As per the users, many of them see a drop in the network just after a few minutes of usage. The issue is most prominent while driving or travelling. The issue is present in all the models of the Apple iPhone 12, as the phone drops network connectivity either 5G or LTE in the areas with good network reception. There are numerous threads on Reddit , concerning the same issue reported by multiple users worldwide. Indian users are also affected by this issue on their 4G networks.

People have reported that their signal drops suddenly before disappearing and to get back the signal you either have to restart your phone or toggle airplane mode on or off. The issue seems to be when switching between towers while travelling and for some unlucky users this happens even while standing still.

A particular user reports the following on Apple forums:

“Received my iPhone 12 Pro on Friday. Activated it on Saturday. Sunday I drove for 10 mns and when I arrive to my destination I saw no reception bars and No Service. And in the middle of the screen in a gray box: Your iPhone is not Activated.

The only way to get the connection back was to toggle Airplane mode to ON then OFF.

The iPhone had the cellular mode to 5G Auto. I switched it to LTE to test. And it was the same.

So I resetted the network settings: same issue and I resetted the iPhone as a new iPhone and reinstalled everything from scratch (not from a saved backup): same issue.

I drove my car and found the exact location where the phone lost the network. If the phone lost the network it means I reach the end of the coverage area from a certain antenna. It looks like something happened with the phone when I reach a zone covered by a new antenna.

I called my operator, and they told me that everything is good on their end and I have the right SIM card for a 5G device.

I called the Apple Tech Support, and they remotely installed on my phone two profiles:

Baseband and Telephony Logging

CFNetwork Diagnostics

I was able to replicate the issue after talking to the Apple Tech, and I was able to submit the report.

I pushed ahead and I found a lot of people on Reddit talking about the same issue not only on Verizon (my carrier) but also on AT&T. Just use the title I typed and you will find the article.
I never had such issue with the 11pro. "

The issue is affecting a significant portion of users and has over 500 users following the same issue on their phones. This likely seems to be a software issue and should be patched by Apple in the next iOS update.
