Intex aims to sell 2 million Aqua smartphones in the fiscal year 2013-13 and launch 20 more smartphone during the next quarter.

Intex has announced the launch of a new quad-core Android smartphone/phablet called the Aqua I-5. Priced at Rs. 11,690, the smartphone runs Android 4.2 out of the box and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A7 rocessor along with 1GB of RAM.

The Intex Aqua I-5 supports dual-SIM (GSM GSM) and has a 5-inch qHD capacitive touchscreen. It sports 12MP rear camera and 2MP front camera, SGX 5T GPU, 4GB built-in storage and expandable storage up to 32GB.

In terms of connectivity, the phablet supports 3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 with A2DP and GPS. The smartphone comes with a 2000 mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 5 hours and up to 7 days of standby.

Intex Technologies recently tied-up with ace-director, actor- Farhan Akhtar as the brand ambassador for its mobility division.

Intex reveals it had sold 7 lakh units last month, out of which Aqua line up of smartphone contributed over 1 lakh. The company has already launched 12 mid-range smartphones under its Aqua line up and plans to launch 20 more during the next quarter. For FY 2013-14, the company has targeted to sell 2 million Aqua smartphones and aims at 300 percent growth in revenues from its mobility vertical.
