Huawei’s upcoming Mate 30 Pro could come with two 40MP cameras
HIGHLIGHTS

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro could come with two 40MP cameas, according to a tipster on Twitter.

The primary 40MP camera will have a dual-aperture module while the second 40MP camera will have an ultra-wide lens.

The Mate 30 is also expected to debut the Kirin 985 SoC with an integrated 5G modem.

The Huawei Mate 30 series will be debuting later this year provided there’s no further development on the US-China trade stand-off involving Huawei. And like every year, the Mate series will attempt to break new ground in the smartphone industry. Based on a tipster’s information on Twitter, the Huawei Mate 30 series will retain the square camera module on the back, only this time, the company could install not one, but two custom-made 40MP cameras on the back.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro’s rear camera setup will comprise one 40MP camera with 1/1.5” sensor size and f/1.6-f/1.4 camera and the company’s patented RYYB pixel layout, along with another 40MP sensor with 1/1.7” sensor size with a 120-degree ultra-wide lens. Along with that, it will have another 8MP camera with 5X hybrid zoom.

What's interesting to note here is that, apart from two 40MP cameras, Huawei will also implement a dual aperture module in the primary camera, allowing it to go wider at f/1.4 from f/1.6 when needed. The second 40MP camera will have an ultra-wide lens, making it possibly the largest ultra-wide sensor on smartphones. Both these cameras will also sport cine lens features, which is also there on the Sony Xperia 1.

Apart from this, the Mate 30 series will debut the HiSilicon Kirin 985, Huawei’s flagship SoC for the coming year and an integrated 5G modem along with 55W fast charging and 10W wireless reverse charging, building up from last year’s Mate 20 Pro.

However, all information revealed about the phone is unconfirmed and, as such, we would recommend you take it with a pinch of salt.
