AdvertisementsAfter launching the two new Nexus phone in the US last month, Google has brought the Nexus smartphones to India. The LG-made Nexus 5X will be available in two storage variants — 16GB and 32GB, and prices will start from Rs. 31,990. Huawei's Nexus 6P will come in 32GB and 64GB variants, and prices will start at Rs. 39,999. Pre-bookings for both the phones start from today, at all major offline and online retailers like Croma and Flipkart.
The LG Nexus 5X is a larger version of the Nexus 5, which was introduced in 2013. The phone carries a 5.2-inch display with 1080x1920px resolution. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, and comes with 2GB of RAM. It will come in two storage options, 16GB and 32GB. The back houses a fingerprint sensor, which Google has named Nexus Imprint. LG has kept the build and looks somewhat similar to the Nexus 5, along with fitting a 2700mAh battery pack.
The bigger Huawei Nexus 6P brings an all-metal unibody design to the Nexus lineup. It is a large device with a 5.7-inch display featuring a 1440x2560px resolution, and is powered by a Snapdragon 810 SoC. Qualcomm's flagship chipset has made the headlines with its heating issues, and the version of the processor powering the Nexus 6P may have solved it to some extent. The device comes with 3GB of RAM, and 32GB/64GB internal storage capacity. It also gets a fingerprint sensor at the back, and a 3450mAh battery inside.
Both phones get USB Type-C ports which supports fast charging, unlike the OnePlus 2. Both the phones feature a 12.3-megapixel Sony IMX377 Exmor R sensor in the rear camera units, with 1.55µm pixel size and a wide-angle f/2.0 lens. Both phones support 2K video recording, and 240fps slow motion video recording.
Both the Nexus smartphones are running on the latest Android v6.0 Marshmallow operating system, updates of which have been rolled out to Nexus 5, 6, 7, 9 and 10. However, Google did not announce any other products, and it seems that India will have to wait for the new Chromecasts, and the Pixel C tablet.
