The Gionee Elife S Plus has a 5.5-inch display, an octa-core processor, 3GB RAM. the smartphone is expected to launch in India soon.

Gionee is all set to launch its new phablet, the Elife S Plus in India soon. The smartphone maker has teased an image on its India Facebook page which says, “Feel with a Plus. Coming soon”. The teaser has the image of a plus sign. It is speculated that the device will launch on November 16, Coming to the specifications of the device, the Elife S Plus has a 5.5-inch 720p AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood, the smartphone is powered by the Mediatek MT6753 octa-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The smartphone has 16GB built-in storage which can be expanded via a microSD caed. The smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop skinned with Amigo 3.1.

The rear of the smartphone has a 13MP camera with an LED flash and the front has a 5MP camera. A 3150mAh battery powers the entire package. The smartphone boasts of dual-SIM capabilities, 4G LTE support and a USB-C port. In the recent past we have seen a lot of smartphones sport the USB-C connector. The OnePlus 2 was the first smartphone to launch in India with the USB-C connector. Recently we have seen the launch of the Nexus 5X and the 6P, Google’s flagship smartphones launch with the USB-C connector. One of the biggest features of the USB-C connector is the ability to charge another device. So if you have a USB-C port in your smartphone you can charge other devices. Lenovo however has shown that you don’t need USB-C to make your smartphone a power bank. The company recently launched the 2 smartphones, the Lenovo Vibe P1 and the Vibe P1m sporting a 5000mAh and 4000mAh battery respectively. Both the smartphones have microUSB ports and through OTG can charge other smartphones.

Coming back to the Gionee Elife S Plus, the smartphone is expected to be priced below Rs. 20,000. In this price bracket, it will compete with the recently announced OnePLus X
