Flipkart Billion Capture+ smartphone with dual rear cameras launched at starting price of Rs 10,999
HIGHLIGHTS

Flipkart Billion Capture+ is the first smartphone under the company's private label Billion. The smartphone is priced at Rs 10,999 and the first sale will be held on November 15.

Flipkart has announced the launch of its own smartphone with the 'Billion' branding in India. The e-commerce giant has launched the Billion Capture+, a mid-range Android smartphone with dual rear cameras at a starting price of Rs 10,999. A dedicated teaser page for the smartphone was spotted on the e-commerce platform earlier today. The smartphone will go on its first sale on November 15 and marks the use of Flipkart's private label 'Billion' for the first time.

Flipkart says its Billion Capture+ smartphone is made in India and the specifications are based on millions of reviews posted on its e-commerce platform. The smartphone features a 5.5-inch Full HD display with 2.5D Dragontrail glass on top. Powering the device is Qualcomm's Snapdragon 625 chipset and is offered in two storage variants. There is a 3GB RAM variant with 32GB storage and a 4GB RAM variant with 64GB internal storage. It also supports expandable storage up to 128GB via dedicated SD card slot.

The highlight of the new smartphone from Flipkart is the dual camera setup, which is rare at this price point. The smartphone features dual 13MP rear cameras with one RGB colour sensor and another monochrome sensor. It offers dual flash and supports modes like bokeh effect for capturing images with shallow depth of field. It also includes a super night mode for shooting images in low light. As far as selfies are concerned, Flipkart has added an 8MP front camera but the dual rear camera is where the company has focused the most.

The smartphone features a metal unibody casing with curved edges and interestingly, Flipkart is sticking to stock Android with no added bloatware. The Flipkart Billion Capture+ runs Android 7.1.2 Nougat and will be upgraded to Android 8.0 Oreo. It houses a 3500mAh battery and uses USB Type-C port for charging. Flipkart says the smartphone can last two full days and can be used for 7 hours with just 15 minutes of charging.

"The Billion brand's products have always been backed by meticulous data-driven research and insight into Indian customers' needs. The features in the Capture+ too have been derived from deep data-mining of millions of Flipkart customers’ reviews. Few true dual camera phones offer this combination of flagship features. We're sure this customer-centricity will delight Indian smartphone buyers," said Sachin Bansal, Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, Flipkart.

The Billion Capture+ will be available starting November 15 at Rs 10,999 for the 3GB RAM variant and Rs 12,999 for the 4GB RAM variant. It will be available in mystic black and gold colour and Flipkart says it will have attractive launch offers along with financing options and no-cost EMI when the smartphone goes on sale. Flipkart has tied up with F1 Info Solutions for repair and service of the smartphone and says the service centres are available across 135 cities.

Flipkart is the face of major smartphone brands selling their devices online. The best-selling smartphone in the country, Redmi Note 4, is available exclusively on its platform and claims to have sold over 5 million units since it launched in January. With the launch of Billion Capture+, Flipkart seems to be gearing up to compete with its own partner brands in the smartphone segment.
