EMUI10 to be made available with Mate series phones: Huawei
HIGHLIGHTS

EMUI10 Beta version will arrive on the P30 series on September 8.

It will be followed by the Mate20 series.

22 Huawei and Honor devices are confirmed to get the Android Q update.

After announcing the EMUI10 at the Huawei Developer Conference on August 9, the company has now said that the Android Q based EMUI10 will roll out with Mate series of smartphones. However, an EMUI10 Beta version will be internally tested with Huawei P30 series and other models on September 8. The Chinese company has also mentioned that EMUI10 is expected to reach 150 million users.

The major changes to the MIUI10 include changes to UX design, an all-scenario ultimate experience, and a new standard of smooth operation. The new update will add a system-wide dark mode as well. Additionally, a new two-level color scheme, called ‘Morandi Color System’ for the top (information) part and the bottom (interactive) part will be onboard. In total, there are 6 Morandi colors integrated into the contact details, Gallery, NotePad, and other parts of the interface.

In the announcement, Huawei claims that “EMUI has more than 500 million DAUs in 216 countries, and supports 77 languages.” Further, “upgrade rates of EMUI8.0 and EMUI9.0 reached 79% and 84% respectively.” The company says that they are dedicated to providing EMUI upgrade services and premium experience for existing users. Moreover, the Chinese tech giant has released a list of 22 devices that will be upgraded to EMUI10.

Huawei is promoting the EMUI10 by saying it will “enable smart life in all scenarios.” The upcoming update adopts a distributed technology, meaning that it will have support for HD video calls among multiple devices. For example, users will be able to choose to answer an incoming call using a smart speaker, or if it is a video call, they can answer it through a TV, vehicle-mounted device, or even send a real-time video feed from a drone. Moreover, with EMUI10, users will be able to share data between two devices, say a smartphone and a computer through drag-and-drop.

On the security front, Huawei has mentioned that the communication between devices will be encrypted end-to-end to ensure “absolute security of data transmission.”

For the developers, Huawei says EMUI provides a distributed UI programming framework and virtualizes hardware capabilities, which enables developers to create apps for multiple devices without needing to make adaptations for the same program on different platforms. However, we are unsure if it is already present or will roll-out with EMUI10.

The EMUI10 Beta will be made available to the Huawei P30 series on September 8, which will be followed by the Mate 20 series. However, Huawei has not mentioned a specific date for the Beta release on the Mate 20 series. However, EMUI 10 will roll out with the Mate 30 series.
