Docoss X1 smartphone launched at Rs. 888: Real or fake?
HIGHLIGHTS

The Docoss X1 claims to offer impressive specifications for the price, however, after the controversy surrounding the Freedom 251, buyers are advised to exercise caution

After the controversial Freedom 251, another Indian company has launched an ultra-cheap smartphone. The Docoss X1 is priced at Rs. 888 and bookings for the device start from April 27, and will close on April 29. The company aims to offer Cash on Delivery for its smartphone, which is scheduled to start shipping from May 2. Users can book the Docoss X1 from the company’s website (www.docoss.com), or by sending an SMS with their name, address and pin code to 9616003322. However, users are advised against booking the phone till more information about the company is known.

At the time of writing, the website mentioned as the official website was not opening properly and when we tried to book the phone, we were receiving an error. According to report by PhoneRadar, the domain name was registered two months back and since it is a private registration, there is no information about the owner of the domain. As per their social media accounts, the company is based in Jaipur. In addition, the company has said on Facebook and Twitter that it is facing issues on booking orders via SMS as they were receiving calls on the number. The company now asks users to send their details to 7666204430. Moreover, the company also claims to have been featured in websites like The Verge and Mashable.

A video that claims to show the phone being unboxed and reviewed was posted on YouTube. However, it seems like the person unboxing the phone may be affiliated with Docoss. Around the three minute mark in the video, the man says, “Everyone is thinking that how we are selling this mobile on this rate. That is the USP of our product.” But the person does not answer the question, instead, he moves on to talk about the touch responsiveness and the cameras on the phone.

As for the specifications, the Docoss X1 has a 4-inch IPS display and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor with 1GB of RAM. The device comes with 4GB of onboard storage that can be expanded by up to 32GB via a microSD card. At the back of the phone is a 2MP primary camera, while at the front is a 0.3MP camera. The Docoss X1 is equipped with a 1300mAh battery and runs Android KitKat v4.4.2.
