Did Apple just confirm iPhone 17 Air? iOS 26 beta hints at possible launch
New wallpaper resolution (1260 x 2736) doesn't match any current iPhone model.
iPhone 17 Air is expected to feature a 6.6-inch display with a super-thin design.
It may be the first non-Pro iPhone to feature a 120Hz ProMotion display.
Apple has just introduced the second developer beta of iOS 26 and may have quietly revealed something that may excite the iPhone users. Among all the updates discovered in the release, the users have found a refreshed version of Apple’s classic clownfish wallpaper but with a different resolution. As per the reports, this resolution does not match with any existing iPhone.
SurveyAccording to reports, the new wallpaper is specifically designed for the iPhone’s resolution of 1260 x 2736 pixels (420 x 912 points at 3x Retina scaling). The report also stated that the display size falls somewhere between the iPhone 16 Pro and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, implying that a mid-sized premium device is in the works. This unusual resolution has once again avoided debate, stating that it is the first official confirmation of the existence of the long-rumored iPhone 17 Air, an ultra slim model that may replace the iPhone 17 Plus in the upcoming lineup.

This is consistent with previous leaks indicating that the iPhone 17 Air will feature a 6.6-inch display, offering a compromise between the 6.27-inch iPhone 16 Pro and the 6.8-inch Pro Max. It is also said to focus on a slimmer form factor and thinner design in order to maximise portability without sacrificing performance.
Previously, leaks have suggested that the iPhone 17 Air will have a 1260 x 2740 pixel resolution, lending credence to the theory that the new wallpaper asset was not an oversight but a deliberate breadcrumb. According to reports, the iPhone 17 Air may be the first non-Pro model to feature a 120Hz ProMotion display.
It is worth noting that Apple has not confirmed the existence of the iPhone 17 Air at the moment. As per the reports, the company will introduce the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Air, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max/Ultra in September.
