CES 2015: Alcatel Onetouch’s new Pixi 3 phones can run any OS
HIGHLIGHTS

The new Pixi 3 series from Alcatel Onetouch can run on Firefox OS, Windows or Android and there are a total of 24 new phones under it.

CES is usually a big playground for phones, but it has unusually drab on that front. Alcatel Onetouch seems to be making up for the lack of smartphones though, with its new Pixi 3 series. It’s not one, not two, but 24 smartphones, ranging from screen sizes of 2.5 inch to 5 inch. What’s more, the devices are all OS agnostic, meaning they can run on Windows, Android or Firefox OS, one at a time though.

The choice of the operating system and price will depend on the carrier the phone is sold through in the US. This automatically means that the version of the phone that will come in your country will also differ. You may have a Onetouch Pixi 3 device running on Android, while your friend in the US may have the same device running on Firefox OS.

It’s rather confusing to be honest, but things will become clearer in the coming days. Alcatel’s market lies in the affordable smartphone segment, which means that all the phones in the Pixi 3 series will be priced affordably. The devices have support for both 3G and 4G connectivity, but this will also differ based on the model that you’re using.
